“Besides snow leopard, a set of several rare Himalayan fauna species are also become visible in this part of Himalayas but these species are gradually disappearing due to lack of protection schemes for these rare Himalayan species,” said Jayendra Phirmal.

The team also filmed snow cock and witnessed Himalayan black bear, Himalayan Thar and blue sheep and other rare species in the region of Darma valley.” If not protected under a serious preservation project, the rare species at high Himalayan region are at the verge of extinction due to rapidly changing weather in the world that is seen visible in this part of Himalayan region,” said Phirmal.

The team of ‘Hidden Himalayas’, is spreading awareness among the villagers of high Himalayan region by making them aware that rare Himalayan species need to be protected and not to be hunted as their existence in Himalayan region would help to create a new avenue of wildlife tourism resulting in more livelihood opportunities for local youths of border region.
