Vlogger warned against alleged defamatory comments about freedom fighter

Pithoragarh police has reprimanded a woman vlogger for her alleged defamatory comments about Gandhian freedom fighter Trilok Singh Panthi, a renowned tribal leader of Munsiyari.
The vlogger who posted her vlog recording near a statute of Gandhian freedom fighter Trilok Singh Panthi, installed at Shaheed park, Munsiyari making alleged nasty comments about his appearance which offended the tribal population.
A complaint was lodged by Sri Ram Singh Dharmasaktu, president of Malla Johar Vikas Samiti, a body of tribal residents of Johar valley with the local police. Acting on the police asked the woman to delete her vlog and let her off after a warning.
Trilok Singh Panthi was an active freedom fighter from the Munsiyari region of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, belonging to the Bhotia/Shauka community who participated in the Indian independence movement, often assisting and facilitating the movement in the mountainous border regions of Kumaon.
He was a resident of Munsiyari and, along with other local leaders, was known for organizing the tribal communities against British policies.
“The vlog carried a humiliating description of appearance of late freedom fighter was insulting and only aimed at getting cheap publicity and more online views but this has angered the entire tribal population, “said Sri Ram Singh Dharmasaktu.
“Ater the complaints from local people, we called the woman vlogger to police station and besides getting the vlog on respected freedom fighter deleted, also warned the vlogger not to hurt local feelings while making vlogs in future,” said Pradeep Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO), Munsiyari police station.
