Rain playing havoc in Pithoragarh

Pithoragarh, July 21
A total of average 40 mm rainfall in the district in last 24 hours resulted in closure of 17 motors roads including one NH, Dharchula to Gunji at Kulagar, District Disaster Management Office (DDMO) informed.
“The ‘Kailash Mansarowar yatra’ is running smoothly from Lipulekh pass, as the 50 members 5th batch will reach Dharchula base camp from Tanakpur today evening. The batch will leave for Gunji camp from the base camp tomorrow,” said Dhan Singh incharge of base camp of nodal agency KMVN.
“Other batches of yatra are also running smoothly, the 4th batch will cross into Tibet tomorrow morning simultaneously the second batch will return to India. The returning first batch has reached Bhimtal on way to New Delhi,” said Dhan Singh.
According DDMO office sources, due to continuous rains in Dharchula region the River Kali has reached at warning level today.” The warning level of river Kali is at 889 meters whereas it is flowing at 888.90 meters today,” said Bhupendra Singh Mahar, DDMO, Pithoragarh.
According to Prashant Kumar Verma, SDO of UP irrigation department at Sharda barrage in Champawat district, the transportation between India and Nepal on Sharda bridge had to be stopped after water level of River reached at 1 lakh cusecs last evening.” We closed the bridge when the water level reached at 107000 cusecs, it was opened for vehicles later,” said Verma.
