Representatives from 18 countries brainstorm on smart cities at International conclave held at Graphic Era University

Representatives from 18 countries are brainstorming the roadmap for building future smart cities at Graphic Era. An International Conclave has begun for this purpose. The conclave is discussing the needs, action plans, precautions and possibilities related to smart cities.
An international conference on the development of future cities was inaugurated today at Graphic Era Deemed University. Addressing the session, Chief Guest and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Ecuador in India, Mr. Henry Larea, said that it is important to learn from the experiences of different countries for the development of smart cities, but every city must develop solutions according to its own needs. He mentioned the metro and integrated public transport system in Quito, urban development and digital transformation in Guayaquil, and initiatives for cycling and electric transport in Cuenca. He said that successful experiments can be adapted to local needs through international cooperation between cities.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Narpinder Singh said that future cities will become smart not merely through technology, but through safe, clean, sustainable and inclusive development. AI and digital technology can improve traffic management, water management, disaster management and citizen services. Environment-friendly smart city models are essential for Uttarakhand.
Malaysia’s representative, Mr. Thava Kumar, said that a smart city is not created merely through technology and infrastructure, but develops through people’s thinking, participation and the use of appropriate technology. Sharing Malaysia’s experiences, he highlighted the importance of recycling and environmental conservation.
The two-day international conference will discuss topics including smart city development, artificial intelligence, cyber security, digital services, smart transportation, healthcare, environmental conservation and sustainable urban development. Representatives from 18 countries, including Ecuador, Australia, Malaysia, the USA, Singapore, Malta, Georgia and Ireland, are participating in the conference.
The programme was organised by the School of Management of Graphic Era Deemed University. Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Santosh S. Saraf, Registrar Dr. Naresh Kumar Sharma, Dr. S. Venkat, Mr. Shambhu Paswan, Dr. Shubham Pandey, teachers and students were present at the programme.
