Two more bridges inaugurated on Indo-Nepal border across river Kali

Pithoragarh, May 28

To facilitate traffic between the people living in the border areas of India and Nepal, two more suspension bridges across river kali whoich form the international border between the countries were inaugurated in Pithoragarh district on Friday.

The bridges were Inaugurated by officers of both the countries. ” With the commissioning of  two more bridges on river kali on Indo-Nnepal border, the number of total bridges at border has gone to eight as six bridges were already in existence.” said Pithoragarh District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan.

According to the District Magistrate, the new bridges have been constructed by Nepal at Ailagar and Titri villages of Indian side.” The bridges are 125 meters long each and have been constructed at a cost of Rs.1.20 crore each in Nepalese currency.” said the DM.

Chief District Officer (equivalent to District Magistrate of India) of Darchula district of Nepal, DR Upadhayay said on the occasion that Nepal is constructing two more bridges at Indo-Nnepal border and after commissioning these two, the total number of bridges on river kali in this district will go to ten. ” This will not only give convenience to residents at border of both the countries but also strengthen friendship bonds between two neighbouring countries, “said the CDO of Darchula, Nepal.
