National Paragliding Accuracy Competition held at Kapkot

The three-day National Paragliding Accuracy Competition concluded at Kedareshwar Maidan in kapkot tehsil of Bageshwar district The competition was organised jointly under the aegis of Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council and Bageshwar district administration. A total of 31 paragliders participated in the National Paragliding Accuracy Competition organized from Jalekh to Kedareshwar Maidan. Bagehswar  District Magistrate Anuradha Pal herself took off with trained paragliders from Jalekh and landed at Kedareshwar ground in about 9 minutes on April 14.

Chief guest MLA Suresh Gariya and District Magistrate Anuradha Pal awarded a cash prize Rs 50,000 to Sunil Kumar, who stood first in the competition, Rs 30,000 to Pankaj Singh Mehta who stood second and Rs 20,000 to Manish Upreti, who was placed third.

Suresh Gariya,local legislator expressed gratitude to Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council, state government and district administration for conducting paragliding competition and welcomed all the participants. He said that as part of the overall development plans of the district, adventure sports activities will be encouraged on priority basis.

District Magistrate Anuradha Pal lauded the participating of many teams in the National Paragliding Accuracy Competition and said that Kapkot is recommended by all paragliders for paragliding.

She said that it was for the first time that the National Paragliding Competition was organized in the district which was successful and hoped to hold such competitions in future also.A total of  31 participants from 8 states and Army, Assam Rifles participated in the competition.

She further said that there are immense possibilities of such adventure sports activities in the district, due to which the economy of the region will also be strengthened. She appealed to the youth to take interest in adventure sports since the government is promoting adventure sports in the state.

She said that adventure sports will increase the employment potential of the region with increased flow of tourists and adventure sports enthusiasts. All the paragliders and judges were honored on the occasion.
