Major boost expected for tourism in Uttarakhand

With an aim  to make India self- reliant  through the strategy of “Vocal for Local,” espoused by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, two districts of Uttarakhand namely Pithoragarh and Champawat have been selected with an approval of Rs 70 crore for each to develop tourist infrastructural facilities in both these districts, Minister of State for Defence and Tourism Ajay Bhatt  said

“While basic infrastrutural facilities for tourists, will be developed at ‘Adi Kailash’ region and Gunji village of Pithoragarh district, similar facilities for tourists will be developed in Purnagiri,  Mount Abbbot  and Mayawati Ashram  to promote the concept of Heritage tourism in Champawat district.” said the Minister.

The Minister said that under the same scheme, work of developing facilities for tourists at Katarmal, Jageshwar and Baijanath with a budget of Rs 76.32 crore has been completed and work of developing heritage circuit in and around Devidhura in Champawat is about to be completed. “Under this concept,,Eco- lodges,Huts, parking facilities at tourist spots, development of Ghats near rivers and meditation centers have been developed,” claimed the minister. “This concept is result of the Prime Minister’s concept of self- reliant India through “Vocal for Local’ approach,” said the Minister.

The minister said that under ‘Prashad Yojana’ of Union Tourism ministry, works of developing facilities for pilgrims in Rudraprayaag district have been completed. ” These works of developing  washrooms, eco lodges, Signage’s, parking and view points have been developed,” said the Minister.

The union tourism minister said that the works of creating facilities for pilgrims in Badrinath and Gangotri, Yamunotri temple campuses are under progress with an amount of Rs 56.16 crore and Rs.54.36 crores respectively.”After the projects gets completed, the pilgrims and adventure tourists coming to Uttarakhand will have hassle free stay in these places,” claimed the minister.
