Sitting BJP MP and Union Minister Ajay Bhatt and Congress party candidate from Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituency Prakash Joshi, have made respective claims of winning the seat.
Congress candidate Prakash Joshi said that prospectus of Congress winning the seat are high as the voters have started evaluating works done in the last decade of BJP rule with that of works done by former Congress Chief Minister N.D. Tewari in the constituency.
” Every BJP candidate in Uttarakhand is seeking votes in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which means they have done nothing in their respective constituencies,” said Prakash Joshi.
“As far the ‘Modi ki guarantee’ factor is concerned it is inherently failed slogan as Modi has failed to fulfill guarantees, given in past two general elections,” he said.
Joshi charged that the BJP MP from Nainital constituency has only spent 40 percent of his MPLADS funds in the constituency.”The unwillingness of the local MP reflects the attitude of BJP union and state governments,” said the Congress candidate.
Joshi denied the rumours that some leaders have left Congress party in Nainital and claimed that the party stands united.
He further claimed that poor, backward classes and minorities are totally with Congress party as the lives of middle classed have been made difficult by BJP in last 10 years. “That is why the middle class voters had decided to bring back Congress this time,” said Joshi.
The Congress candidate charged that the decade old Modi government and their representatives in Uttarakhand have failed in solving the basic problems of education, health and employment in the hilly region.
“The government schools opened by Congress regime to provide quality education to poor for free are closing, the health structure at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) level have crumbled and employment opportunities are dwindling due to closure of several SIDCUL industries,” alleged Joshi.
He said that if Congress comes to power it would restart giving full time employment rather than giving adhoc and out sourced employment.
” In last 10 years of BJP rule, over 4 lakh youths of 18-24 years of age have fallen unemployed in Nainital constituency alone. The pressure on higher education is such that out of 15000 enrolment in biggest MB PG college of Haldwani, there is sitting arrangement for only 2500 students. The infrastructure of PHCs and CHCs have crumbled increasing the pressure on lone big Hospital at Haldwani.
On the other hand, Nainital MP and BJP candidate from the seat Ajay Bhatt has claimed to have done multifaceted works in the constituency after his victory in 2019 general elections.”My works included not only construction of roads, national highways and educational institutions but also enhancing medical facilities for common man in the constituency, I have also been responding to personal needs of my voters in my constituency in last 5 years of my tenure as MP from Nainital -US Nagar,” claimed Ajay Bhatt.

Ajay Bhatt claimed that people are completely with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he has worked to solve their problems in last 10 years of BJP regime.” Either it is poor women from villages, poor household, job seeking youths or farmers, all have been getting benefits of Modi government schemes and determined to bring back Modi with more than 400 MP this time,” asserted Ajay Bhatt
He further said that his other achievements in the last five years included, sanctioning of several roads bridges and bypasses in the constituency. “The works of Khatima bypass (Rs.94.58 crore), Rudrapur bypass, extension of NH 125 from Jagboora bridge to Nepal border, sanctioning of 3 main bypasses of Lal kuwan –Haldwani – Kathgodam, Kashipur-Sitarganj to Gadarpur and 43 km long Rampur- Kathgodam bypasses were main works that were done for the people by me, ” said Ajay Bhatt.
In the health sector, he said that he has not only upgraded several primary and community health centers in his constituency to provide cheap and high quality medical services but also sanctioned a sum of Rs 12 crore for a pathalogy laboratory in Susheela Tewari hospital in Haldwni.”I have provided an ex- ray machine in the community health center at Suyalbari and provided equipments for eye department of sub -district hospital at Bazpur,” claimed Bhatt.
“In next 5 years, we are planning to create more urban infrastructure for coming up cities in the constituency besides bringing big industrial investments to Haldwani to have new industries to create more jobs,” said Bhatt.
