Pithoragarh, June 29 In order to link Tanakpur – PIthoragarh all weather road with pithoragarh -Tawaghat road, to make the transportation smooth for defence forces to security posts at Indo china border, a new 14.50 km long bypass is being constructed near pithoragarh town
“Today we have taken drone survey for the bypass, that involves a 5 km long tunnel, the drone survey was carried on from Aincholi to Satsiling, the spot survey will be followed soon,.”said HS Bathiyal, an
official of national highways division of state PWD.
According to NH engineer, the bypass will divert towards Paun village from Aincholi point of NH and proceed towards Bardani temple and Puneri village to reach Satsiling point, where it will link with Pithoragarh Tawaghat road.” Keeping big number of trees on the assigned bypass, decision to construct a tunnel was taken 2 years ago.”said the NH engineer.
The NH engineer said that the construction of bypass will begin by last month of this year.”after this bypass gets constructed, the pressure of vehicles on main Highway could be reduced and defence forces could get a smooth passage upto the border.”said the NH engineer.
The bypass in Pithoragarh is third such bypass on Tanakpur to Tawaghat road, two other such bypasses are proposed near Champawat and Lohaghat towns on Pithoragarh – Tanakpur all weather road, to avoid pressure on transportation of defence vehicles running on the road from Tanakpur to Tawaghat.
