14 year old girl gave birth, FIR lodged under POSCO Act

Pithoragarh, April 14
After a 14 year old girl gave birth to a male child via caesarean operation in district hospital Pithoragarh today resulting in lodging of an FIR at Munsiyari police station against the father of the newly born.
“As the pregnant girl was suffering from labour pain, our organisation took responsibility of the girl and signed on the letter before doctors conducted the operation as no guardian was available there,” said L.S. Khati, chairperson of Bal Kalyan Samiti, a state government’s agency meant to care for needy children in Pithoragarh district.
According to Khati, an FIR, under section 64(1), 87 BNS and 5/6 POCSO Act has been lodged against the said father of newly born in Munsiyari police station
The said father of newly born is working in Pune presently.
The minor girl has said that as her parents have separated when she was very young and she was bereft of emotional support from family. She came in contact with the boy in June 2025 and went to Pune with him where she conceived.
The Bal Kalyan Samiti chairperson said that the girl and her newborn will now be kept in special adoption agency facility after been discharged from hospital and will be taken care of till she turns 18.
