RLEK Inaugurates Two-Days FLN Training Programme for School Facilitators
Dehradun, 28 September 2026: Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RLEK), in collaboration with Ek Kadam Aage, inaugurated a two-days training programme on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) on 27 September 2026, bringing together facilitators from RLEK’s Jhangeri and Blue Star Van Gujjar Upper Primary School, Mohand.
The two-day programme, held on 27 and 28 September, focused on strengthening foundational reading, writing and basic numeracy skills among children. The training included practical classroom activities, interactive learning methods and approaches that facilitators can use in their day-to-day work with children.
The programme also provided an opportunity for the facilitators to share their experiences from the field and discuss the challenges of working with children in remote communities.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ms. Pratima Menon, Chairperson, RLEK, said, “Strong foundational learning is the base on which a child’s further education develops. Through such training, we want to support our facilitators with practical methods that they can use directly with children and adapt to their local learning environment.”
Mr. Mamraj, a participating facilitator from the RLEK schools said, “The training has given us practical activities and new ways of working with children. These are simple methods that we can take back to our schools and use to make reading, writing and mathematics more engaging for the children.”
The FLN programme is part of RLEK’s continuing efforts to strengthen the quality of education in its schools and provide regular learning and capacity-building opportunities to facilitators working with children in remote and underserved areas.
RLEK has been working for several decades in the areas of education, human rights, livelihoods, legal literacy, environment and community development, particularly among marginalised communities and people living in remote areas of Uttarakhand.
