Incessant rains disrupt roads, normal life in Kumoan

Heavy rains which continued from last 24 hours, resulted into closure of over 62 motor roads in Kumaon region, including of 28 roads in border region of Pithoragarh resulted into inconvenience to locals population and defence personals going to their posts at Indo-China border posts.
Over 15 truck drivers, stuck on Thal-Munsiyari road with their loaded trucks, have their own story of sufferings as they are stranded on the road fearing boulders from the hills and shortage of food.” We fear being hit by boulders from the hill side during incessant rains as we are sitting in our truck,” said Mahiman Dubaria, a truck driver stuck at Kalamuni from last 8 days with his loaded truck.
According to District Disaster Management officials in Pithoragarh, the border region of Tejam, Bangapani and Dharchula witnessed over 103, 85 and 60 mm rains respectively in last 24 hours.”It has resulted into shifting of 13 families of Hokra village of Munsiyari sub-division,” said B.S. Mahar District Disaster Management Officer, Pithoragarh.
The Dharchula to Tawaghat road has again closed at Dobat after heavy boulders fell on road from above hill today morning. Pithoragarh District Magistrate Reena Joshi has ordered to sound an alert to the roadside villages of river Kali after the water level of river risen to 889.40 meter today morning that is above the danger level of 889 meters.
According to the information received from Bageshwar, five residential houses collapsed in Paniyali and Baikori villages of Kapkot sub-division of the district after heavy rains caused havoc there.”Keeping the security of students and teachers in mind, we have ordered closure of all schools and Aganwaris in the district today,” said Anuradha Pal, District Magistrate, Bageshwar.
