Manav Bharti students explore prospects of career in plastic engineering during visit to CIPET

Under the Nature Connect Program being organised by Manav Bharati school, Dehradun , students of 11th class visited Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Doiwala to know about career prospects in plastic engineering. The officials of CIPET officials took the students on a tour of the institute and discussed their queries in detail. They were briefed about how the plastic products are made and what are the career prospects in this field. The students through a presentation was briefed by the CIPET officials about the educational activities and work of the institute.
Balveer Sharma, Technical Assistant of the institute, informed the students about various courses in the field of Petrochemical Engineering and Technology being conducted by CIPET across the country, which include various skill development programs, diploma, short term courses, UG and PG courses and PhD. Currently, diploma courses are being conducted in Dehradun CIPET, which include Diploma in Plastic Technology and Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology. Along with these, various other skill development courses are also conducted.
He expressed the hope that Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) programs can be started after approval after the construction of the building is completed in Dehradun by next year.
He also informed the students about plastic waste management. He said that plastic has become a necessity and by its’ proper knowledge and uses, it could be beneficial for the humans as it neither harms the environment nor human body. He said that purpose of establishing CIPET is to spread awareness about engineering and technology of plastics, petrochemicals, to develop skills and conduct research on them. The various skill development programs are making the path of self-employment and placement in various institutions easier, he added.
The officials took the students on a tour of various departments of the institute and explained in detail about various techniques of making plastic products, raw materials, machinery, quality check and various processes. They answered various questions of the students in simple words.
Manav Bharti School Director Dr. Himanshu Shekhar expressed his gratitude to the officials of CIPET Institute. He said that according to the students, this tour has given them answers to many questions related to the possibilities of self-employment in petrochemicals engineering and plastics. Faculty members Ashish Choubey, Anjana, Rahul Tadiyal, Jagdamba Prasad provided support to the students under the guidance of Joint Director and Head of the Institute Abhishek Rajvansh and Assistant Technical Officer Pankaj Phulara. The teachers included Kalpana, Pawan Kumar, Arvind Negi and Vipin . were present with the group of girl students.
