Awareness program under the Road Safety Project of IIT Roorkee and Afcon India held at Manav Bharati School

The students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee made children aware of road safety through short plays at Manav Bharti School, here today . The Engineering students informed children about traffic rules and signs through a presentation and dialogue program.
The awareness program was organized under the guidance of Professor Ashu Khanna of IIT, Roorkee under the Road Safety Project of Afcon India, an infrastructure company and IIT, Roorkee. Under the guidance of Professor Dr. Ashu Khanna of IIT Roorkee, Research Scholar Saurabh Chaurasia and Business Analyst Snehlata of Afcon India, engineering students presented short play in front of children of class four to six, explaining the importance of traffic rules in a very simple way. In these plays, the consequences of breaking traffic rules, driving at high speed and not paying attention to safety measures like helmet, seat belt were told.
Question-answer booklets were distributed among the children for the survey of information related to traffic rules and signs, in which the children answered according to their knowledge. This survey will reveal the awareness of traffic and road safety among children.
IIT, students gave a presentation, through which children were told what is the minimum age for driving a vehicle. They communicated with the children about wearing helmet, seat belt, following speed related instructions, driving the vehicle only at the prescribed speed, etc.
Principal Ajay Gupta of Manav Bharti School honoured the members of the awareness campaign team by presenting them saplings. Suchita Kothari, Poonam Dhoundiyal, Kritika, Neelam Kukreti, al, teachers of the school provided support in conducting the program.
