Provocative slogans in front of mosque to celebrate ‘Shaurya Diwas’ at Vikasnagar

An alleged attempt to provoke the minority Muslim community by the right wing Bajrang Dal members was made by taking out a procession, dancing with naked swords and raising provocative slogans in front of Jama Masjid mosque at Vikasnagar town of Dehradun district of Uttarakhand on December 15, 2024.
The Bajrang Dal took out a procession in Vikasnagar town to celebrate ‘Shaurya Diwas’ to mark the 1971 Bangladesh victory of the armed forces. The member participating in the procession stopped in front of the Jama Masjid, Vikasnagar and danced with loud music raising provocative slogans.
Some Muslims of Vikasnagar have lodged a complaint in this regard with police charging that it was a clear attempt to provoke the minority community and create law and order situation. They requested the police to look into the matter and take appropriate action as per the law. According to media reports, the police has yet to register a FIR in the matter. Sanjit kumar, a police sub-inspector, has said that the police is investigating whether naked swords were taken out during the procession, as per media reports.
