PhD Awarded to Akriti for Research on Impact of PSAs

Dehradun, 8 February: Graphic Era Hill University has awarded a PhD degree to Akriti Dhoundiyal Badola for her research on the impact of government advertisements on public welfare. Faculty member of Media & Mass Communication Department, Akriti Dhoundiyal Badola has completed her PhD under the supervision of Professor Dr. Subhash Gupta.

In her research, Akriti has discovered that public service advertisements significantly influence behaviour, attitude and perception in youngsters, particularly in areas related to health, lifestyle and social awareness. In case of impact of advertisements, cultural and emotional PSAs were found to be the most impactful. In the research most of the youngsters acknowledged the positive effect of advertisements in their lives. Demographic factors like age and education also influence the effectiveness of PSAs. Instagram emerged as the most effective medium for advertising. 44.8% of respondents expressed their trust in its credibility. Akriti has also provided data to support these findings.

Dr. Subhash Gupta said that this research could play a crucial role in enhancing the impact and utility of government advertisements. The findings that have come out of this research highlights how and to what degree various types of advertisements affect youngsters. This research can be utilised in creating effective advertisements that specifically target youngsters.

Today, in the presence of Dean of Galgotias University Professor Dr. A. Ram Pandey and Principal of Government PG College Dr. Sushil kumar Upadhyay as external experts along with Dean Research of Graphic Era Hill University Dr. Kapil Ghai, HoD of Management Department Dr. Vishal Sagar, HoD of Fashion Design Department Dr. Jyoti Chhabra, HoD of Mass Communication Department Dr. Taha Siddiqui, Research Coordinator Dr. Himani Binjola and Dr. Ankita Uniyal from Journalism Department, Akriti was awarded Phd after successfully defending her research.
