Experts called for Integration of technologies to solve problems
Dehradun, March21
Experts have urged teachers and students to collaborate with scientists on new ideas and innovations at an international conference on ‘Device intelligence, computing and communication technologies’ being organized at Graphic Era Deemed University, here today. Addressing the two day conference, Director General of Technology Management at Defence Research & Development Organization, L. C. Mangal said that artificial intelligence, sensors, digital, communication and other technologies are being interconnected to build a network society. Embedded system-based devices are simplifying daily life and with necessary modifications, they are also being used in the defence sector. He said that integration of sensors, technical functions, and communication into a chip can be used for tremendous applications.
Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Dr. Narpinder Singh said that almost all devices are now being integrated with AI. This transformation is bringing revolutionary changes in fields such as AI-powered X-rays, insulin, wearables, autonomous vehicles, prosthetic limbs made using 3D printing, smart homes, and traffic management systems. Physicist Prof. R. K. Sinha emphasized on the need for advancing research in optical fiber technology as it can help in solving various challenges. He presented his research on zero-index metamaterials and said that by changing the mu (μ) and epsilon (ε) parameters of metamaterials the refractive index can also be altered.
In the conference, Professor Manav K. Bhatnagar from IIT Delhi discussed 5G technologies, Professor M. Jaleel Akhtar from IIT Kanpur highlighted the challenges of sustainable engineering and Professor Sudeb Dasgupta from IIT Roorkee provided insights on Cryo-CMOS technology.
A souvenir was released and 76 research papers were presented. The international conference was organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Dean Research Prof. Bhasker Pant, Dean International Affairs Prof. D. R. Gangodkar, HoD Prof. Irfanul Hasan along with Dr. Mridul Gupta, Dr. Abhay Sharma, Dr. Chandni Tiwari, Prof. Sanjay Kumar from Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi, faculty members and students were present in the conference.
