Bhuwan Joshi, a 22 year’s old student died after a sudden landslide above his home resulted into falling of heavy debris in the room of his house where he was sleeping, in Ojhapali sublet of Rasgari village under Askot police station off pithoragarhg district.
“The incident was caused by water logging in a half constructed closed canal some 60 meters above the house,” said Pinki Aryan, Tehsildar of Didihat, who reached the spot and retrieved the body and sent it for post mortem.” We have handed over a cheque of Rs 4 lakh to mother of deceased as compensation money along with some cash, blankets and cloths to the family,” said the Tehsildar.
According to the eye witnesses, the water from canal was trickling gradually from long time as it was not repaired from long time. “It weakened the soil above the house resulting into sudden collapse of heavy mud and boulders on the house,”.said K.B. Pal, a local resident of the village.
