Sanjeev Chaturvedi donates his allowances to CM Relief Fund

Sanjeev Chaturvedi, a 2002 batch Forest Service Officer, working in Uttarakhand at present, has set another example of ideal public service by donating the entire amount he earned as allowances worth almost Rs 3 lakh, as travel allowances, between December 17, 2016 to August 2025, to Chief Ministers’ relief fund of the state.
Chaturvedi has revealed it in a letter written to Head of department of forest Uttarakhand on April 4, 2025.
“It is due to satisfaction incurred to me by serving the ‘Devbhoomi’, and satisfaction received by the work of preservation of rare flora and fauna of the Himalayan state, to have opportunity of serving state of Uttarakhand is biggest award for me,” said the 2002 batch IFS officer.
The amount, Chaturvedi was given was as travel or daily allowances for his travels to remote parts of the state like, Milan, Har ki dun, Mana pass, Devtal, Nelong valley, Barahoti, Lapthal, Panchachuli, Tapovan, Hemkund Sahib, valley of flowers, Jolingkong and Lipu pass.
“By taking cue from these travels, I’ve also initiated establishing 25 wild animal preservation centers in the state,” said Chaturvedi.
“We need special efforts to preserve rare Himalayan fauna like, Himalayan Marmet, mountain beagle, flying squirrel, king cobra and fin beaver like fauna,” said Sanjeev Chaturvedi.
Earlier in 2015, the officer has also donated entire amount of Magsaysay award given to him to Prime Minister’s relief fund after the Delhi, AIIMS denied taking the amount to which he offered to give first.
On other occasions, like he received Rs 2.2 lakh as mediator of a dispute in Chandigarh Housing Board in 2019 and amount of Rs 2.4 lakh, he received in 2015 as reward for running anti -corruption move, was donated to a needy family.” It gives me deep satisfaction by donating beyond need amounts as serving people honestly is the only motto of public services,” said Chaturvedi.
