Mayukh Mahar, a second time Congress legislator from Pithoragarh assembly constituency has come up with an initiative to help young students from the district to prepare for the various competitive examinations in a better professional manner.

Mayukh Mahar announced that being a student, he himself faced the problem of self- analysis while preparing for the competitive examinations.

He announced that he will be organising  mock tests and interviews with experts  for aspirant youths who are preparing for various competitive examinations at the state or national level with his own expenditure. He further announced to provide scholarships to those who will obtain first five positions in these mock competitive examinations.

Talking to this correspondent, the Congress MLA said that he has bitter memory of 80’s, when he also used to prepare for competitive examinations but could not succeed as he had no good books or guidance on how to prepare for UPSC or state level competitive examinations.

“I had met thousands of youths during my recent election campaign who told me  , about their problems  regarding better books, proper guidance and expert level guidance while preparing for various competitive examinations for police constable, BDO, VDO Patwari, forest guards and teachers of different level, defence services examinations and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations,” said Mahar.

Mahar said that he will not let these youths face difficulties as he himself faced during 80’s, when he , during his preparation time for UPSC, could not get standard books and guidance for examination being stationed at Pithoragarh which is a far off place as he was financially not well off to afford coaching in metro cities for UPSC civil services examination.

” I want these poor and bright youth of my district, preparing for various competitive examinations should not be deprived from good study material and guidance,” said Mahar.

After winning from Pithoragarh assembly constituency by defeating BJP candidate and sitting BJP MLA, Chandra Pant, Mahar had also requested  the people, who were thronging to congratulate him, to bring good books with them to gift him so that r these books could be given to some needy students.

According to Mahar, the scheme to take mock examination and provide scholarships has been named after Late freedom fighter Laxman Singh Mahar, who belonged to his family.
