RIMC faculty’s exhilarating ride and trek to Bhadraj hills

Dehradun, Oct 22
In a spectacular blend of adventure, camaraderie, and spiritual discovery, the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) organized a thrilling motorcycle expedition to Matogi village, followed by a rejuvenating trek to the sacred Bhadraj Mandir — a journey that covered nearly 120 kilometers of winding mountain roads and 9 kilometers on foot through the heart of the Garhwal Himalayas.
The expedition, undertaken by the Faculty group of RIMC, brought together members for an unforgettable outdoor experience after a long gap. The event was led by Commandant Col Rahul Agarwal, whose motivating presence and infectious enthusiasm kept the spirit of adventure alive throughout the journey.
The motorcycle ride unfolded across scenic hill roads, rugged off-road stretches, and awe-inspiring mountain vistas — offering riders the perfect mix of challenge and beauty. Along the way, participants soaked in the vibrant culture, cuisine, and traditions of Uttarakhand, deepening their connection with the land and its people.
Matogi village, nestled in Dehradun district’s Vikasnagar tehsil, served as the gateway to the Bhadraj trek. The route presented breathtaking views of the snow-clad Bandarpoonch range and other majestic Himalayan peaks. The trek itself was a nature lover’s delight — winding through lush forests, blooming buransh (rhododendron) trees, and silvery mountain streams under a tranquil blue sky.
Upon reaching the hilltop, participants admired the recently renovated Bhadraj Mandir, a revered shrine known for its spiritual aura and panoramic Himalayan views. The descent to Matogi offered another dose of Garhwali charm, as cadets explored traditional stone-and-wood homes with slate roofs, terraced fields, and fresh mountain springs.
The day ended with a hearty taste of authentic Garhwali cuisine, reflecting the warmth and hospitality of the local villagers. By evening, the team returned to the RIMC campus, where Col Rahul Agarwal lauded the participants for their teamwork, discipline, and adventurous zeal.
The expedition, meticulously coordinated by Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Arts Master & Adventure Coordinator, exemplified how nature, culture, and adventure unite in Uttarakhand’s captivating landscape — reaffirming Dehradun’s place as a hub for outdoor exploration and spirited youth engagement.
