Every organism is important for environment

Environmental experts are of the opinion said that every organism on earth plays an important in the conservation of an ecosystem. From a termite to honeybees all the organism help in sustaining the ecosystem. These observations were made by experts at a two-day national conference held on ‘International Day of Forests’, that started in Graphic Era Deemed University on “Forests and Innovation: New Solutions for a Better World” here today
Dr. Dhananjay Mohan, Chairman of Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board who was the chief guest at the inaugural function said that reasons like increasing population, changing lifestyle and pollution are damaging the ecosystem. It is our moral duty to conserve the ecosystem for the upcoming generations and for the conservation of biodiversity programs like agroforestry, ex-situ and in-situ are important for balancing the relationship between environment and organisms.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Narpinder Singh said that for monitoring and managing forests, drone and Geographic Information System technologies are proving to be effective. Plantation, forest gardens and green infrastructures should be implemented in the increasing urbanisation scenario as well.
On the first day of this two days conference, today more than 30 research papers were presented. The participants planted saplings on the occasion.
The Conference was organised by Department of Biotechnology in collaboration with Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board. Ranjan Kumar Mishra, Forest Conservation Nodal Officer Dehradun, S. S. Rasaily, Former Member Secretary, Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board, Dean life Sciences, Graphic Era Deemed University, Prof. Priti Krishna, HOD Dr. Manu Pant, Dr. Yashasvi Singh and Dr. Pramod Rawat were also present.
