Unique styles showcased at Graphic Era University’s fashion show ‘Tasva’

Young Designers of Graphic Era University have taken a new initiative by designing garments with natural products to promote the concept of environment protection through their designs.

A fashion presentation show based on sustainability titled ‘Tasva’ was organized in Graphic Era’s Prof. K. P. Nautiyal Auditorium, today. In the show, models wearing garments based on various cultures were seen spreading charm on the ramp walk. Chief guest and celebrity designer Dr. Sanjanaa Jon appreciated the confidence and enthusiasm of students and said that having passion for fashion is very important. Garments made of Himalayan Stinging Nettle ( Kandali) received appreciation from the audience. Garments based on ‘Kulluvi’ and ‘leheria’ dance forms of Himachal Pradesh and belt based on ‘pattoo’ and ‘gacchi’ were the highlights of the event. These garments also showcased Himachali women’s culture of weaving handloom fabrics.

A garment collection inspired by the Sundry tribe of Nagaland showcased elements like motifs, hornbill, beads, shells, dab & spear and geometric patterns. Garments based on the Nawabs of Awadh and renowned painter M. F. Hussain’s painting ‘Trimurti’ received applauses from the audience. In the show, young designers showcased some unique designs that were created by using pre consumer waste, scraps, old and already used denim.

The young designers who showcased their vibrant garment collections include designer of ‘Astitva’ collection Shristha Bhandar, designer of ‘Taana- Baana’ Shruti Tiwari and Nikita Rawat, designer of ‘Pret-a- Closet’ Deepika Rawat and Nikhil Negi, designer of ‘Verve’ collection and ‘Riwayat’ collection Nikhil Negi and designer of ‘Urbane Chic’ Ashmita and Anweeta.

The Fashion show was organized by Department of Fashion Design. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjay Jasola, HOD Amrit Das, Dr. Jyoti Chhabra and students were present in the show.
