Uttarakhand Congress party start holding conferences to prepare for Lok Sabha polls

In a bid to strengthen the party at the booth level for preparing for the forthcoming parliamentary elections scheduled next year, Uttarakhand Congress today held a district level conference of party workers at Pithoragarh The conference was addressed by state Congress chief Karan Mahra, leader of opposition in state assembly, Yashpal Arya, former Almora MP Pradeep Tamta, senior party leader Govind Singh Kunjwal  and two Congress MLAs from Pithoragarh, Mayukh Singh Mahar and Harish Dhami and senior Congress leader Bhagirath Bhatt.

“The workers conference in Pithoragarh is in sequence, of district conferences started by Congress party in order to mobilises workers to prepare for all five Lok Sabha seats for the next year elections,” said Karan Mahra, state president of Congress party.

Addressing the workers gathering, he said that party has introduced ‘Mandalam’ concept of Kerela in order to combat ‘Shakti Kendra’ concept of ruling BJP and to strengthen Congress party at the Nyaya panchayat level.”The Congress party does politics not  to enjoy power but to raise voices of down trodden classes of society. Every Congress worker should do missionary work for poor with the doctrine of secularism,” said the party president.

Leader of opposition in state assembly Yashpal Arya said in his address said that while BJP leaders are spreading hatred in the society and playing politics of division, Congress party is the only hope for the country as it works towards unification of all classes, religions and castes on the basis of equality provided by the Indian constitution.”Due to it’s contempt towards democracy and secularism, BJP and ‘Sangh Parivar’ is mulling to change the constitution given by Dr Ambedkar to the country,” said the leader of opposition in state assembly.

Former Almora MP Pradeep Tamta said that the ‘double engine’ BJP governments have cheated the masses in the last 10 years.”It has destroyed the future of youth by introducing ‘Agniveer’ scheme in the armed forces that was sole medium of livelihood of the hill youth,” said Tamta.

According to party state office, after completion of district level workers meet in Champawat (yesterday) pithoragarh(today), and Bageshwar and Almora tomorrow, the party will complete district level workers meet in three parliamentary constituencies of Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal and Almora. The workers conferences will be organised in Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar on 20th and 21,while workers meet in Haridwar parliamentary constituency would be organised in first week of January.”On December 29, a training camp of senior party workers will be organised in Nainital by party after that the party will turn to assembly wise conferences of workers,” said Mathura Datt Joshi, senior vice president, orgnisation and administration, at party headquarter at Dehradun.
