‘Parikarma Path’ of holi ‘Adi Kailash’ peak traced

in order to find ‘Parikrama Path’ of  holi ‘Adi Kailash’ peak( 5925 m), a three  member mountaineering  team of ‘Climbing Beyond The Summits’ (CBTS) undertook an expedition to circumambulate the peak and traced a way to make ‘Parikrama’ of the peak considered holi by Hindus.

“We undertook the expedition with Alpine style climbing method and succeeded in outlining ‘Parikrama’ route of the peak,” said Yogesh Garbiyal, team leader of the expedition and Director of CBTS.

The expedition members reached down to 60 meters from peak and keeping the sanctity of peak in mind, completed survey there.”Even several other expeditions to ‘Adi Kailash’, including the team of Martin Moren in 2002 and Tim Woodword team in 2004, finished their expedition below several hundred meters due to reverence of the holy peak,” said Garbiyal.

According to Garbiyal, the ‘Parikrama’ path could start from Bidang location of Darma valley and could go through Sinla pass towards Jolingkong and north western part of the peak.”The total circumference comes to a total of 40 km,” said Garbiyal.

‘Adi Kailash’, the  second peak among ‘Panch  Kailash’ after ‘Kailash Mansarowar’ as first and is counted amongst three other peaks of ‘Mani Mahesh’, ‘Kinnar Kailash’ and ‘Srikhand Mahadev’ peaks located in Himachal Pradesh.

The three members of mountaineering expedition were Yogesh Garbiyal, Kala Baral and Meenakshi Rawat. “The expedition with total six members started on May 10, and completed the task on May 17, after reaching 60 meters below the peak,” claimed Garbiyal.
