Bageshwar District Magistrate Anuradha Paul has sent a team of officials to high Himalayan region of Sundardhunga, (12628 feet), to investigate into matter of construction of a temple by an outsider without permission of the district administration and allegedly violating religious sanctity of locals by using the local water pond of deity as a swimming pool.
“After we got complaints from locals that the said person, Balyogi Chatainya Akash, has not only, constructed a temple in the name of renovation of a local deity Devi temple, but also permitted the tourists to take adventure bath in holy pond of the deity. “The temple committee formed by the said person after the renovation of the temple, is not a registered body,” said the DM.
According to DM, the team will also investigate into the violation of Sanctuary laws, as a sizable part of Nanda Devi Biosphere falls into the Sundardhunga region.
The 14 members investigation team including police, SDRF, personals, revenue and forest officials will return in a week’s time as the return journey from Sundardhunga takes five days time
According to the information, Balyogi Chaitanya Akash, who reached the area two years ago has claimed that the goddess Bhagwati, came in his dream and ordered him to purify the temple by doing penance Yagna and prohibit the tourists from polluting the place.
” It seems to be a conspiracy directed towards snatching the traditional religious rights of locals and violating environmental rules to establish an institution for religious business purpose at sensitive high Himalayan region by snatching the rights of the locals,” said Ramesh Pandey Krishak, a social worker in Bageshwar.
