Badminton star Lakshya Sen felicitated by Graphic Era University on return from Paris Olympics

Dehradun, August 18

Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen who returned after reaching the semi-finals of the badmintonin Olympics, creating a history of sorts for the country was awarded a sum of Rs. 25 Lakh by Graphic Era Deemed University where he is s student. He received a grand welcome today after reaching the university. Lakshya admitted that his hasty mistakes were the reason for his loss in the semi finals.

Pride of the country and Graphic Era’s MBA student, Lakshya Sen along with his family visited his university today. Despite it being a holiday, teachers and students reached the university in large numbers to welcome their favourite Lakshya Sen. After reaching Graphic Era’s Silver Jubilee Convention Centre, Lakshya Sen was warmly welcomed with drums and a showered with  flowers.

In the felicitation ceremony, shuttler Lakshya Sen said that he was playing good in the beginning of semi finals match and had chances of winning as well but due to some mistakes during the game he lost the match. Lakshya Sen expressed his gratitude towards the blessings he got and love that was showered upon him by the country. While urging the people to extend their support to athletes at every level, he said that not only in big matches but supporting sportsperson from the very beginning is essential.

Lakshya Sen being presented with a cheque of Rs. 25 lakh by Dr. Kamal Ghanshala and his wife, Chairperson of Graphic Era group of Institution at a felicitation function he;d in Dehradun on Sunday.

Lakshya Sen said, the experience that the has gained during Olympic games will be fruitful in the future competitions. He advised youngsters of to eat cooked food for their health.

While addressing the ceremony, Chairman of Graphic Era Group of Institutions Dr. Kamal Ghanshala said that Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen who created history after reaching the semi finals of men’s singles in Olympics is pride of the country and Graphic Era. Lakshya Sen with his stamina, skills and passion has won hearts of the whole nation. At just 23 years of age, young shuttler Lakshya Sen has successfully defeated top players of the world.

Dr. Ghanshala expressed his confidence that Lakshya Sen will be among top badminton player of the world and will win gold medals consecutively in the future. He said that this was his first experience of the Olympics and will be helpful for a successful career ahead. In this journey, Graphic will always support him and expressed his happiness that five students from Graphic Era played in the Olympics this year.

In the ceremony,  Dr. Kamal Ghanshala and Vice Chairperson of Graphic Era Group of Institutions Rakhi Ghanshala awarded a cheque of Rs. 25 Lakh to Lakshya Sen and felicitated him with shawl and a bouquet of flowers.

In the felicitation ceremony, Lakshya’s mother Nirmala Dhirendra Sen and father D. K. Sen also addressed the ceremony. Along with Lakshya’s parents General Secretary of Uttaranchal State Badminton Association  B. N Mankoti was also honoured by Graphic Era. Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Dr. Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Hill University Dr. Sanjay Jasola and other officials were also present in the ceremony.

Earlier, he also met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami,also.
