BJP government accused of communal polarization and hiding failures
Dehradun, Dec 1
Congress and CPI(ML) have condemned the state BJP government headed by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of blatant violation of orders of Nainital high court in allowing holding of Hindu Mahapanchayat at Uttarakashi, today.
Suryakant Dhasmana, Senior Vice President of the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee and party In-charge of the Uttarkashi district in a statement issued here today charged the Uttarakhand BJP government of engaging in communal polarization to cover up its failures and inefficiencies. He also accused the state government and ruling party leaders of violating the orders of the Nainital High Court regarding holding of Hindu Mahapanchayat.
Dhasmana questioned the BJP government and its leaders about the blatant disregard for the High Court’s orders. “Who is responsible for allowing the mahapanchayat despite the court’s clear directives? The government must answer to the people,” he asked.
Addressing media persons, here today, Dhasmana said alleged that the entire Uttarakhand hills and particularly Uttarkashi is being deliberately engulfed in communal tension. “ Last year it was a fabricated case of alleged “Love Jehad’ created in Purola to disrupt communal harmony and now, an unnecessary controversy is being created about a decades-old mosque in Uttarkashi to destroy the peace of the region,” he charged.
He further alleged that BJP legislators added fuel to the fire by delivering provocative speeches at a Hindu Mahapanchayat in Uttarkashi, which directly violates the High Court’s orders and the government’s own affidavit that denied permission for such events.
Dhasmana claimed that individuals involved in these communal incidents are being protected by BJP leaders and the state government Instead of taking action against such elements, has allowed them to hold mahapanchayat, thereby encouraging their divisive agenda. “This is a calculated conspiracy to harm the social fabric of the state,” he asserted.
Criticizing the state BJP government for neglecting essential issues like development, employment, health, and education, Dhasmana said that ruling dispensation has been promoting contentious issues like ‘Love Jihad,’ ‘Land Jihad,’ and ‘Spit Jihad’ to create unrest in the state.
Condemning the divisive politics of BJP, Dhasmana appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to remain vigilant against such conspiracies and maintain peace. He also issued a stern warning to the government, stating, “If immediate action is not taken against those disrupting harmony in the state, the Congress will take to the streets to fight for the people’s rights.”
Indresh Maikhuri, Secretary of Uttarakhand unit of CPI(ML) condemned the state government for giving permission to hold Hindu Mahapanchayat at Uttarkashi despite giving an assurance to the contrary in the Nainital high court. He charged that the state BJp government has misled the High Court to fulfil it’s communal agenda.
Ina statement he said that the assertion of Uttarkashi district administration that permission to hold Hindu Mahapanchayat has been given with conditions is simply laughable. He further said that either the district administration is probably suffering from amnesia as it were such assurance given for the October 24 rally which turned violent or it is under immense pressure from communal state BJP government in allowing holding of such communally divisive events.
Condemning the communal event, Indresh Maikhuri sought strict action against all communal, divisive elements who are out to vitiate the atmosphere of Uttarakhand.
