Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited ‘Parwati Tal’ and had a glimpse of ‘Adi Kailash’ peak considered sacredby Hindus, performed ‘puja’ and had meditation at Jolingkong near Indo-china border in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, today. He reached  Jolingkong helipad of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in the morning and was received by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Wearing local tribal costume, ‘Ranga Byathala’,(Turban and upper garment), Prime Minister performed ‘Puja’ at Shiv -Parwati temple near Parwati Tal, and had ‘Darshan’ of ‘Adi Kailash’ peak for over 5 minutes.The Prime Minister also chanted hymns while having ‘Darshan’ of’ Adi Kailash’ from near ‘Parwati Tal’. The ‘Puja’ at Shiv Parwati temple was performed by tribal priest Virendra Kutiyal and Gopal Singh,  using traditional Puja instruments of Rung tribals.

Later, on reaching Gunji, some 36 km down from Jolingkong, Prime Minister was welcomed by Rung tribals wearing traditional costumes. The Prime Minister also beat  the ‘Dhol’, used by local tribals to awaken their deities. “After receiving traditional welcome, the Prime Minister also viewed an exhibition of local woollen products,” said Shalu Datal, member of Rung Kalyan Sanstha.

The Prime Minister also met the members of the armed forces and locals. He left for Jageshwar Dham temples in Almora. He reached Shaukiyathal helipad at  11.38 am and drove straight to Jageshwar Dham where he performed ‘Puja’ at three main temples of Jageshwar namely Jyotirling, Pushi Devi and Mahamrityunjaya. The Prime Minister also had  meditation at Mahamrityunjaya temple and did ‘Parikrama’ of Jageshwar temple complex. Almora MP Ajay Tamta, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and state officials received the Prime Minister at Jageshwar temple.

The Prime Minister will reach Pithoragarh after taking lunch at Jageshwar where he will be welcomed by 2700 cultural artists of the state spread on a five kilometers long route from airport to the S.S. Waldia Sports stadium, where he will address a public meeting.
