PM Modi attack Rahul Gandhi in Uttarakhand, Congress retorts

Dehradun , April 2

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a blistering attack on Congress and particularly Rahul Gandhi as he started BJPs’ election campaign in Uttarakhand by addressing a well attended rally at Rudrapur in Kumoan terai region of the state.

In a state having a large number of servicemen and ex-servicemen families with majority upper caste Hindu population, Prime Minister attacked Rahul Gandhi on his recent comment that if BJP got elected for the third time, India would be set on fire.

“The shahzada (prince) of the Congress Shahi family has given a clarion call that if the country chooses the BJP for the third time, the country will be set on fire,” he said.

Prime Minister further said that Congress had been out of power for 10 years after ruling the country for 70 years  and are now talking of setting the country on fire. “Do you approve of this? Will you allow the country to be set on fire? Is this language acceptable? Is this the language of democracy? Won’t you punish people who say such words,” asked Modi .

Rahul Gandhi on Sunday at the Opposition’s Ramlila Maidan rally protesting against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had charged that said PM Modi had fixed the match of the election and sent two chief ministers to jail before the election. “If the BJP wins these fixed elections and changes the Constitution, the country will be on fire. Remember this,” Rahul Gandhi had said.

“No one trusts the Congress and its Emergency mentality in democracy. So now they are provoking people. Congress wants to take India towards instability,” PM Modi said.

Without naming Karnataka leader DK Suresh whose North-South comment after the Union Budget was passed stirred a row, Narendra Modi said, “A tall leader of the Congress spoke of dividing the country into North and South. Shouldn’t such a person be punished? But the Congress gave him an election ticket.

With a large population of servicemen families in the state , he said that people of Uttarakhand will never forget that Congress even insulted General Bipin Rawat. Mentioning about CAA, he said no matter  how much the Congress opposes it, the refugees have the guarantee of Modi.

“Congress divided the country in such a way that we had to see our Guru Nanak’s Gurudwara in binoculars all these years. BJP came up with the Kartarpur corridor. Had Congress not shown the weakness, nobody would have even dared to look at our borders. Another fresh example of how Congress gave away Kachchatheevu Island to Sri Lanka has now come to the fore. Can this Congress protect the country?” PM Modi said.

He said that Uttarakhand is no the path of unprecedented progress unseen and unheard in the past. He promised that during the next term of the BJP led union government the people of the state will get free electricity guarantee and for that ‘PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna’ has been started.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Congress has termed the allegations of Prime Minister Modi against Rahul Gandhi and Congress as a pack of lies. Suryakant Dhasmana, senior vice-president of Uttarakhand Congress said that it was BJP led by PM Modi who has been dividing the people and not Rahul Gandhi who has walked thousands of kilometres criss crossing the country to unite the country.

About the allegations of Modi on the security of the country, Suryakant Dhasmana said that Uttarakhand has borders with China which has usurped thousands of kilometres of Indian land but the Prime Minister dare not open his mouth against China.

Dhasmana said that Prime Minister failed to mention about Ankita Bhandari murder case, recruitment scandals involving ruling BJP leaders. “The progress of Uttarakhand is evident in the plight of government schools, hospitals and migration by hill farmers due to scare of wild animals,” he added.

Jyoti Rautela, Uttarakhand Mahila Congress Chief who protested at Rudrpur against the visit of Prime Minister seeking answers about Ankita Bhandari murder case was arrested by the police.
