Yashasvi Joshi (17), residents of Pithoragarh has been selected to represent the country in the 10 meter pistol category of the national shooting team for the forthcoming Asian Games. She has termed her success due to her hard work and continuous efforts of his father and coach Manoj Joshi.The Asian games are scheduled to be held in South Korea from November 9 to 21, this year.
“Yashasvi has started shooting from the age of 11 years. She has won several awards under junior and youth categories at the state level and won bronze medal at National level in her category, ” said Manoj Joshi, his father and coach.
Yashasvi was selected for National shooting team as well as for individual event after trials at Dr Karni Singh shooting range at New Delhi a day before.” It is the result of her hard work and commitment towards shooting,” said Joshi.
Manoj Joshi, himself a renowned shooter at National level, took part at National level shooting competitions after winning gold medal in state shooting competition in the year 2013.” After playing in 10 meter and 25 meter pistol category from 2013 to 2017 at state and national level, we started a shooting academy ,named as ‘Bulls Eye’ near our home at Chandak in Pithoragarh district and since trained over 13 youths, all of whom have participated at state and national level competitions. Three of them are state level medallists, but we did not received any help or financial assistance from any government or organisation and did it all with our limited means only,” said Manoj Joshi.
