Seminar on Himalayan Millets held at Graphic Era University

During the ongoing ‘International Year of Millets’, Graphic Era University organised a seminar to discuss about the technical, scientific and economic specialities of millets. Various experts shared their valuable insights on the uses and significance of millets

The topic of seminar was ‘ Himalayan Millets: Rhizosphere, nutrition and climate resilience’. Dr. Anita Rawat, Director, Uttarakhand State Education and Research Centre, who was chief guest on the occasion  said that millets are an important part of our culture and traditions and are used not only in food but also as medicines as well. She also emphasized on the importance of increase in the production of millets.

Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era Deemed University Dr. Narpinder Singh said that millets might be a new global concept but it has always been an integral part of Uttarakhand cuisine. He also gave insights on the various uses of millets. On this occasion, various competitions were also organised in making various product like cookies and brownies from millets.
