Anti- Human Trafficking campaign on Indo-Nepal border

The anti- human trafficking unit of Pithoragarh police and Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB),, the para military force guarding the Indo-Nepal border has started an intense campaign against anti- human trafficking on the border crossings and in the border areas.
A joint team of the Pithoragarh police along with SSB started an intense checking campaign at border crossing at Jauljibi bridge that connects both the countries.

“We took this joint checking keeping in view off the festival of ‘Bhaiya Dooz’, during which human trafficking activities might get enhanced from this border bridge.” said K.S. Rawat, Circle Officer of Dharchula police.
Besides intense checking drive on the border crossing at bridge from either side, a special drive was undertaken in the border villages to make the villlagers aware about the modus operandi of human traffickers.
“Our joint teams also took special sessions in border villages specially of women, on protection of crimes against women, child begging and prohibition of drugs. The women groups at border villages at Jauljibi portion of Indo Nepal border, took keen interest in our campaign and promised to take caution of any unidentified person seen or new activities witnessed near their villages,” said the circle officer.
