Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has claimed that under the leadership and direction of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami it has made unprecedented progress in the power distribution sector in the past two years by laying more than 4000 km of Low Tension (LT) lines in the state.
The UPCL claimed that along with providing electricity to every village, every house of the state, there have been positive changes in the lifestyle of the general public due to marked improvement in the quality of power. The power distribution sector has become strong and prosperous to give more impetus to the extensive changes taking place in the development of the industrial sector of Uttarakhand. In the past years, UPCL has taken important steps to establish a strong power distribution system as well as to improve operational and business efficiency. To compensate for the ever increasing demand, UPCL has constructed 04 new 33/11 kV substations in 02 years and installed approximately 242 km 33 kV, 2045 km 11 kV and 4101 km LT lines across the state. To maintain power balance on all the channels across the state, approximately 8266 distribution transformers have been installed. Also, 1,89,804 new power connections have been installed in the last 02 years. The details of division wise distribution transformers, 33 KV line, 11 KV line, LT line and new electrical connections in the last 02 years i.e. 2022 to 2024 are as follows-
In the 14 divisions of the UPCl during 2022-2024, there are 8266 Distribution Transformers, 242 kms , 33 KV lines, 2045 km -11 KV lines, 4101 km long High Tension (HT) lines and 189804 new power connections given during the period.
Special emphasis is also being laid on the implementation of the futuristic projects to ensure high quality power supply to consumers in the long run. Under the RDSS scheme of the Government of India, the proposed installation of smart prepaid meters for about 16 lakh consumers across the state would prove to be a boon for the consumers. In addition, smart meters will be installed at 59212 distribution transformers and 2602 substations to improve energy accounting, which will increase the digitalization, automation and efficiency of the power system and also reduce power losses.
