Dehradun, November 28
Under the effective leadership and guidance of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has garnered recognition for its significant achievements over recent years, receiving commendations from both the Government of India and the State Government. In this context, UPCL has excelled in financial metrics, largely due to the dedicated efforts of its Managing Director Anil Kumar Yadav.
Over the past three financial years—2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24—UPCL has been honored with a “Certificate of Appreciation” by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Additionally, on this year’s ‘GST Day,’ the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) awarded UPCL for its contributions to national development, recognizing its timely compliance with monthly and annual GST obligations during the financial year 2023-24.
Managing Director Anil Kumar Yadav expressed that this accolade is a source of pride for both the Energy Corporation and the state of Uttarakhand. The remarkable advancements made by UPCL in the financial domain were also acknowledged during a recent Board of Directors meeting, where improvements in billing and collection efficiency, as well as efforts to reduce AT&C losses and address the ICT-II gap, were commended. Furthermore, UPCL has implemented an innovative power purchase strategy, achieving a record 22 percent reduction in electricity costs from the short-term market in the financial year 2023-24 compared to 2022-23, resulting in an overall decrease of approximately 3 percent in the power purchase rate.
