Dehradun, May 10
During his visit to Arunachal Pradesh, renowned orthopaedic surgeon, author, road safety awareness advocate, and president of AIIMS Guwahati, Padma Shri Prof. Dr. B. K. S. Sanjay, paid a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. Gen. K. T. Parnaik (Retd.), at Lok Bhavan. On this occasion, Padma Shri Prof. Dr. Sanjay presented his book ‘Bharat Mein Sadak Durghatnayen’ to the Hon’ble Governor. During the meeting, a meaningful discussion was held on important subjects including education, healthcare, national security, public awareness, and road safety. Padma Shri Prof. Dr. Sanjay stated that the Hon’ble Governor’s visionary personality, commitment to national interest, and sensitive approach towards public welfare are truly inspiring.
It is noteworthy that on the occasion of the UN Global Road Safety Week 2026 and during his visit to Arunachal Pradesh, Padma Shri Prof. Dr. B. K. S. Sanjay, President of AIIMS Guwahati, delivered a lecture on road safety at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology. He is also scheduled to deliver special lectures on road safety tomorrow at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences and Arunachal Law Academy as part of ongoing efforts to promote public awareness and responsible road safety practices. He emphasized that road safety is not the responsibility of a single individual, but of every citizen.
He further emphasized that road safety should be made an integral part of the school curriculum, as modern life is increasingly dependent on transportation and vehicles. He noted that by educating children and young people about traffic regulations, civic responsibility, and safe road behavior from an early age, a significant number of accidents can be prevented and countless lives can be saved. The programme at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology was organized by Dr. Dibyendu Pal, Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering.
