‘Adi Kailash yatra’ resume after nine days

Pithoragarh, May 17

The ‘Adi Kailash yatra’ resumed after a delay of nine days due to accumulation of snow enroute  as eleven pilgrims of third and fourth batch respectively resumed their  journey from Dharchula today.

“The road to ‘Adi Kailash’ was blocked at Garbadhar from last nine days and the situation becaoem worse when another snow slide blocked the road on May 15,”said Dhan Singh, incharge of base camp at Dharchula.

According to Dhan Singh, besides 11  KMVN sponsored pilgrims, 60 other ‘Adi Kailash’ pilgrims sponsored by private tour operators  have also resumed their pilgrimage after 9 days from Dharchula today.

“The snow on way to ‘Adi Kailash’ peak, beyond Kuti village has now been cleared and coming batches of ‘Adi Kailash Yatra’ will be able to have ‘Darshan’ of the sacred peak,” hoped  Dhan singh.

The first two batches of ‘Adi Kailash’ were not able to have ‘Darshan’ of ‘Adi Kailash’peak  due to heavy snow on the way beyond Kuti village

Meanwhile, Pithoragarh District Magistrate Reena Joshi today held meeting with concerned agencies for smooth conduct of  ‘Adi Kailash’ pilgrimage and instructed the Border Roads Organisation ( BRO) to help facilitate ‘Adi Kailash Yatra’, by stopping the  road widening work for three days in a week.”We have instructed the BRO officials that they will have to maintain the road from Ghatiabagar to Gunji besides giving three days in a week to yatra to proceed by abandoning the road widening work,” said Reena Joshi, District Magistrate,Pithoragarh.
