Dr. Narpinder Singh, a renowned food scientist, today took charge as the new Vice-Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University. Dr. Narpinder Singh, who is included in the list of top one percent scientists of the world of ‘Web of Science’, has been associated with renowned universities of Japan, America, Britain and China. Dr. Singh, who has been awarded many national and international awards in the field of education and research, for his work for the past 33 years.
Dr. Narpinder Singh has the distinction of achieving an H-index of 83 in Google Scholar in terms of research papers. He has more than 23 thousand citations. Dr. Singh, who made his debut in the field of education in 1993 as an associate professor at Guru Nanak Dev University, was awarded with Commonwealth Scholarship in 1994. He received the Pran Vohra Award in the year 1997 for outstanding research in food processing. In the year 2000, he became Professor of Food Science and Technology. He was also Dean and Coordinator for many years in the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
Along with many prestigious awards of the country, Dr. Singh was included in the list of two percent best scientists of the world in Chemistry by Stanford University last year and placed with 18th position in India. He has been visiting professor at the Department of Food and Human Health Sciences, Osaka City University, Japan, Department of Grain Science and Industry, State University, USA, School of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy, University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK and School of Chemical Sciences, South China University of Technology. He has been associated with Food Science and Engineering.
He has also received Excellence in Carbohydrate Research Award 2016, CNR Rao Educational Foundation Award for Excellence in Research 2007, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences for his distinguished work in the field of Agricultural Engineering and Technology. He has received fellowships from Association of Food Scientists and Technologists, National Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He has also received the JC Bose National Fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology.
Dr. Narpinder Singh took charge as the Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University today. The teachers of the university have expressed happiness over the appointment of the world’s famous food scientist as the vice-chancellor. Graphic Era Deemed University, which has been ranked in the list of hundred top universities of the country for past three consecutive years and has received A+ grade from NAAC, is continuously gaining fame in the field of research and for best placements of its’ students. The university have obtained new patents every year for new discoveries. After taking charge, Dr. Singh said that he would work with all his might to take the university to greater heights.
